A Scary Thought

With the recent terrorist attacks in Jordan, I thought of a CNN special the month I just had to watch, oh yeah, about what the government would do or what would happen during a major terrorist attack, across various cities. Well we happened to be on there and they gave a worst-case scenario, about a tanker ship and the refineries being attacked and a toxic gas of, whatever is released into the air that everyone in a 25 miles would be dead, if they there not in a proper shelter or outdoors. The scary thing is that I live about 5 miles away from the ship channel and the closest refinery. How much of it is hype, I mean 25 miles? We or some of us live with this everyday, even before 9-11, we knew just one of theses things just needs to go boom or release some sort of gas, and we are done for. “Shelter in places” aren’t all that uncommon in this area, were a gas gets released and people get sick from it, it’s happened before, but I can’t remember the last time a mass evacuation has happened, I mean besides the hurricane and all, what would happened if we had just minutes? How many people would die?
